TOP-electronics partner Summit Electronics introduced its new motion-control platform, Atlas, designed for engineers developing efficient and dependable stepper-motor applications. The system consists of the Atlas Engine range of stepper motors combined with Atlas Control Step 1 and Step 3 controller/driver boards. The controllers are designed around ADI Trinamic motion-control technology and STM32 Cortex microcontrollers. The motor range currently includes NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 options.

“Atlas marks an important next step for Summit Electronics,” says Chris Derksen, General Manager of Summit Electronics. “We are expanding our portfolio with a motion platform that combines performance, flexibility and availability. It enables customers to move from a motion requirement to a practical, production-ready solution more efficiently.”

The modular motion platform gives engineers the ability to match the controller and motor to the constraints of the application, with no need to design around one fixed actuator configuration. Atlas is developed to streamline motion control integration including selecting the motor, choosing the driver, managing current, controlling noise, defining the interface architecture, and making sure the complete solution remains available during the product lifecycle.

Included Trinamic Functions:

  • CoolStep - dynamic current control
  • StallGuard - sensorless load and stall detection
  • Microstepping - smoother and more precise movement
  • StealthChop - low-noise operation

According to the company, a full SDK is also available through GitHub for both the one-axis and three-axis versions.

An official introduction will be a featured highlight of Top-electronics' Booth B-6807 at embedded world North America 2026.
