DigiKey has added more than 27,000 new products to its portfolio and are available to ship in Q2 2026. All around, the company has added over 373,000 new products, along with 104 new suppliers across its marketplace. The ever-expanding portfolio enables engineers the ability to order prototype quantities for rapid shipping, without placing a special order in factory quantities or waiting for lead or transit time.

We’re seeing new life coming to the Thread standard. If you remember, Thread is part of the IEEE 802.15.4 wireless protocol and operates at very low power. But it doesn’t offer the bandwidth of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi continues to get better, so I question whether there’s really a need for Thread.

When Matter debuted a few years ago, it was hailed as the answer to one of the IoT industry's biggest headaches, namely interoperability. Getting smart home devices from different vendors to work together had become a frustrating experience for both manufacturers and consumers. Matter changed that conversation, at least in theory.

Embedded systems have continued to evolve and as this happens, the rate limiting factors have too. In particular, the bottleneck on performance is no longer the processor alone; and memory access is now a critical factor in system responsiveness.

NXP announced the UCODE Nxm, a RAIN RFID IC designed for high-capacity item identification in industrial IoT and digital product passport applications. It supports 880 bits of total shared memory with up to 496-bit EPC memory and up to 752-bit user memory. The integrated circuit is designed for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and aviation. It can store extended data directly on the tag while maintaining standards-based privacy and data integrity.
