Basler and Syslogic are collaborating on solutions purpose-built for machine vision and Edge AI. Basler’s ace 2 GMSL cameras can now be seamlessly combined with Syslogic’s rugged computers, creating a platform for demanding vision AI applications such as mobile robots, agricultural vehicles, and construction equipment.

“Basler is one of the leading providers of machine vision cameras,” says Michael Jung, Product Manager at Syslogic. “Combining Basler’s ace 2 GMSL cameras with Syslogic rugged computers gives customers a fast and straightforward way to get started with demanding vision AI projects.”

Basler’s software ecosystem, including the pylon SDK and Camera Enablement Packages (CEP), streamlines the integration of machine vision cameras into industrial embedded systems. Basler’s ace 2 GMSL cameras are designed for embedded vision applications. The GMSL2 interface allows transmission of high-resolution image data over coaxial cables up to 15 meters long with low latency and high immunity to interference. Synchronization of several cameras enables 360-degree surround vision, spatial image processing, and AI-based object detection.

Syslogic’s computers process image data from the cameras relying on Integrated NVIDIA Jetson modules that can manage AI inference, image analysis, and deep learning workloads directly at the edge with no need for cloud services. For autonomous vehicles and mobile machinery, the platforms support up to eight GMSL cameras and connect to sensors including LiDAR, radar, and GNSS systems. The systems are engineered to withstand shock, vibration, dust, moisture, and wide temperature ranges.
