Over the last 50 years, electronic devices have become increasingly important tools to aid medical professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Early examples include the scanners (CT, MRI) developed in the 1970s which offered breakthroughs in the level of detail that could be seen inside the body.

If I had to choose a “phrase of the year” for the electronics industry for 2021, it would be “I’ve never known anything like it”.

While wireless connectivity brings many advantages, security is where it adds weaknesses. A wired connection can be probed or diverted, but it requires physical access and quite visible interference. Wireless connectivity, by contrast, makes it possible to spy on data transfer or inject malicious content remotely and unseen. This article discusses how security in short range wireless is evolving as solutions – and threats – become increasingly sophisticated.

Crises tend to leave permanent social change in their wake. We still seek human interaction, but the boundaries of what is acceptable shift.
