Rohde & Schwarz has upgraded the R&S CMP200 radio communication tester with a new option for small cell testing. Qualcomm Technologies has validated the solution, and it is now supported by the Qualcomm® Development Acceleration Resource Toolkit (QDART) for Small Cells.

The R&S CMP180 radio communication tester has been successfully validated for Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 6E chipsets. OEMs and ODMs of wireless devices are now able to bring their first next generation 6-GHz products to the market.

As of October 1, 2021, China Mobile required all 5G-enabled mobile phones to support voice services over 5G NR (VoNR). Accordingly, the network operator announced corresponding audio quality test cases. China Mobile relies on the R&S CMX500 radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz for 5G VoNR test verification, and the first acceptance tests have already been performed.

As 5G networks are being rolled out globally, the evolution of the 5G NR standard continues. With Release 17, 3GPP will extend the frequency support of 5G NR mmWave bands into the unlicensed spectrum up to 71 GHz, a frequency band traditionally used by non-cellular standards like IEEE 802.11ad and 11ay. To address new testing challenges related to this bandwidth extension and to evaluate the performance of the latest generation RF transceiver chipsets, Rohde & Schwarz and Sivers Semiconductors teamed up to test RF transceivers for 5G NR up to 71 GHz.

Base models for the portable R&S FPL1000 take spectrum and signal analysis capabilities up to 26.5 GHz. They combine the functionality of benchtop instruments and the portability of a handheld instrument with intuitive features to make high performance measuring on the go fast and simple.

Rohde & Schwarz has joined the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) to support the organization's mission to foster industrywide standards for communications between vehicles and smartphones. The company will contribute its solutions for the development and production of UWB devices and modules for automotive applications such as keyless vehicle access.

With the R&S ATS1800M, Rohde & Schwarz introduced an extension to the R&S ATS1800C, a compact antenna test range (CATR) based 5G NR mmWave test chamber for over-the-air (OTA) testing.
