Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Kawasaki) and EdgeCortix Inc. announced a Teaming Agreement to advance next-generation AI-enabled aerospace and defense systems. The understanding will create a multi-year strategic program with the initial scope consisting of several million U.S. dollars in aggregate program value from 2026 to 2028. It will combine Kawasaki’s aerospace and defense systems knowledge with EdgeCortix’s advanced AI semiconductor and software technologies.

EdgeCortix Inc. publicized its edge AI co-processor, the SAKURA-II, exhibited high levels of radiation resiliency in NASA’s heavy ion testing conducted at Texas A&M Cyclotron showing that the SAKURA-II is ideal for low Earth orbit applications as well as geosynchronous orbit, and lunar operations.

Tokyo, Japan. EdgeCortix Inc. released information that its SAKURA-I AI Accelerator is capable for space exploration due to its enhanced radiation resiliency. To analyze EdgeCortix’s AI accelerator’s radiation resistance, NASA Electronic Parts and Packaging Program (NEPP) performed a two-stage test, involving exposure to proton and heavy ion radiation in space-like conditions.
