Memory safety vulnerabilities are a significant security risk for any enterprise, but especially in automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, IoT, and medical. Because of this ongoing challenge, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released revised guidance in January 2025 urging software vendors to eliminate memory safety risks by 2026​.

Although C and C++ continue to dominate embedded systems, the relatively new language, Rust, is showing promise as a language that provides much of the flexibility of older languages but with stronger guarantees of safe operation.

No one likes bugs (except maybe entomologists). But if you’re a software developer, you definitely don’t like bugs, especially when they’re hiding in your source code. Even so, spending hours, maybe even days bug-hunting through lines upon lines of code can be an arduous process.
