This next stop is in my home state and it is always great to be back, unless it is winter. We are visiting Samtec and getting some insider information on Samtec’s high-performance interconnects for embedded computing applications. It’s highlight at embedded world 2023 will be PICMG COM-HPC, other Standards-based interconnect solutions, and its latest RF solutions.

A quick jaunt down I-65 from Indianapolis will get us to our next stop on the Road to embedded world, New Albany, IN, and the home of Samtec USA.

COM-HPC was officially ratified about six months ago. Embedded Computing Design has done a nice job covering the spec and many of the products that have come out of the spec (some before ratification and many after). We also posted a series of videos (called COM-HPC Academy) with some of the influential members of PICMG, the standards body behind the spec.

Connectors, cables, etc. are a vital piece of the embedded system, but are often (too often?) taken for granted. There?s clearly a lot going on in that space that designers should know about. To...
