Sunnyvale, California. Synopsys introduced the expansion of its Synopsys.ai Copilot generative AI (GenAI) abilities utilized in semiconductor design solutions supporting complex designs with an acceleration to production. As mentioned in the press release, the expanded Synopsys.ai Copilot assistive and creative capabilities are already in use by early access customers and demonstrate sufficient design quality and engineer productivity gains.

QuickLogic Corporation introduced Aurora PRO, an innovative development of the Aurora FPGA design tool. The tool integrates Synopsys Synplify FPGA synthesis enabling designers greater resource utilization and maximum frequency (Fmax). This integration results in a 50% improvement in resource use, as proven by client designs achieving over 96% LUT utilization with average frequency increases of up to 10% for eFPGA designs for enhanced system performance.

Synopsys has released new information that it has completed its acquisition of Ansys. The original transaction was announced on January 16, 2024, and will merge two leaders in silicon design, IP, simulation, and analysis to transform AI-dependent products.

TSMC, Cadence, KLA, Siemens, and Synopsys are advancing semiconductor manufacturing by adopting the NVIDIA CUDA-X and NVIDIA Blackwell platforms.  

COMPUTEX—NVIDIA's NVIDIA NVLink Fusion, new silicon designed to enable the build of semi-custom AI infrastructure, has been adopted by MediaTek, Marvell, Alchip Technologies, Astera Labs, Synopsys, and Cadence, enabling custom silicon scale-up to support workloads for model training and agentic AI inference. 

Synopsys has announced a brand new UCIe IP solution operating at up to 40 Gbps per pin and the company says it’s targeted directly at the computing needs of data centers layered with ever-more sophisticated AI applications.

Synopsys is all in on generative AI, and it’s putting its money where its mouth is by creating a Center for Generative AI within the company. Being that I had no idea what this meant, how it would work, or what it would mean to the industry, I invited the Center’s Executive Director, Stelios Diamantidis, to join me on this week’s Embedded Executives podcast.
