A well-considered strategy to run and monitor an industrial factory is critical to its safe and profitable operation. In addition to strong policies and procedures, surveillance of security and safety of buildings, operating equipment, staff, logistics, and availability of real-time response to any emerging problem are at the heart of reliable and successful factory operation.
Geneva, Switzerland. STMicroelectronics released its STPM801, the first automotive-qualified integrated hot-swap and ideal-diode controller for functional-safety applications. An external MOSFET is controlled by the ideal-diode managing the reduction of power while operating at normal capacity. In case of an anomaly, the MOSFET safeguards the reverse current transients.
Geneva. A new customized 10W isolated-buck IC from STMicroelectronics has been released to protect power conversion and gate driving in IGBTs, SiC, and GaN transistors. The L6983i includes low quiescent current and 3.5V-38V input-voltage range.
