MagnaChip Semiconductor released two new LED Driver ICs for UHD TV BLU (back light unit). The models are 1- and 2-channel units that were developed for mid-range UHD TVs. The purpose of BLU LED Driver IC, which is a power semiconductor, is to deliver consistent lighting across the LED display panel.

They feature high contrast ratios and improved power efficiency, resulting from the implementation of a combined solution of analog and pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming technology. This dimming technology allows LEDs to alter intensity in an effort to suit image characteristics.

Short Circuit Protection, Under Voltage Lockout, Over-Duty Protection, Current-Sense Resistor Short Protection, and Drain-Source Short Protection functions are included within the new models. The features offer an advantage in protecting the main circuit by supplying consistent power and preventing a short circuit.

In addition to the 1- and 2-channel ICs, the company also produces 3-channel BLU LED drivers for premium UHD TVs. MagnaChip features a full product line that suits a variety of TV models.
