New-to-me IPC vendor Quanmax was the next stop on the show floor, and I spoke with Vincent Wang, Vice President of the company’s Embedded Product Division.

It’s widely known that the APAC market is packed with board-level competition, and therefore a question I asked repeatedly was “what makes you different from the next guy?” For Vincent Wang and Quanmax, the answer is through ODM services that offer customization and flexibility beyond your basic off-the-shelf form factors.

While Quanmax has historically focused on solutions built around x86 architectures (like many of the other vendors), 2015 is the first year the company has ventured into the ARM market with offerings based on Freescale i.MX6 and i.MX7 series processors. Though the Taiwanese tech firm specializes in fast time to market with their custom offerings, they do still design around standards such as SMARC, Q7, and Intel’s Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) Pico-ITX for clients that require immediate, scalable solutions. You can see an example of one of their fanless OPS designs in Figure 1.
