Hello Embedded Engineers, Developers and Makers! Welcome to In Case You Missed it: Embedded Insights, the weekly news show all about Embedded technologies and solutions from Embedded Computing Design.
It’s Friday June 13, 2025 and I’m Ken Briodagh, Editor in Chief of Embedded Computing Design and these are our top stories this week.
First up, Arm recently announced its Zena CSS, the company's first pre-integrated and pre-validated platform for AI-defined vehicles built on Armv9 Automotive Enhanced (AE) technology. Reportedly, Zena CSS reduces chip development time by up to 12 months and cuts silicon engineering effort by up to 20% per project, helping OEMs and silicon providers bring new vehicle models to market sooner with intelligent voice and touch interfaces, immersive digital cockpit experiences, driver assistance and automation, and real-time awareness.
Our next story zeroes in on Bluetooth technology and how engineers can get improved performance with Bluetooth LE Audio. LE Audio is a redesign of the spec to meet modern sound expectations. It’s got a new audio architecture and the LC3 codec at its core, and delivers better audio quality at a lower bit rate compared to sub-band coding (SBC), the codec used in Classic Audio.
Finally, we’re featuring our recent DevKit Weekly, which showed off the specs and form factor for the EdgeComp MS-1335U Edge Computer from BIOSTAR. This compact compute unit is ready for deployment at the edge for a wide variety of applications and it is ideally suited to vending machines, digital signage, and other retail-type use cases.
