Bosch Releases Virtual Touchscreen Technology for Smart Homes and IoT

Bosch Sensortec has released its BML100PI, a compact plug-and-play Interactive Projection Module designed to equip smart homes with a virtual touchscreen on every surface.

Las Vegas, NV. Bosch Sensortec has released its BML100PI, a compact plug-and-play Interactive Projection Module. It is designed to equip smart homes with a virtual touchscreen on every surface, providing a complete, ready-to-use solution for interactive projection.

Its generated laser beam creates a focus-free image on any surface and then scans it line-by-line for gesture detection or movement of fingers sans calibration or adjustment requirements for accurate gesture and touch recognition.

The idea is to create 'smart shelves' with many simultaneous projections on the individual shelves in fridges, cupboards, kitchen cabinets or wardrobes, to name a few. One module can provide touchscreen functionality on up to six different surfaces. It provides information such as weather reports, calendar appointments, or if articles of clothing are missing and how to find a replacement.

"With this Interactive Projection Module any regular shelf can easily be transformed into a personal assistant for the user, greatly enhancing the level of convenience in people’s daily lives," said Dr. Stefan Finkbeiner, Bosch Sensortec’s CEO.

Bosch will be appearing at CES 2019, Tuesday to Friday, January 8–11, 2019, in the Central Hall, booth #14020.
