Microchip Pre-Programs MAC Addresses in NOR Flash Memory

There is no minimum order requirement for the devices, reducing the procurement, management, and cost overhead for small-to-medium-sized connected device deployments.

Microchip’s SST26VF Serial Quad I/O (SQI) 3V Flash family of NOR memory devices integrate unique EUI-48 and compatible EUI-64 MAC addresses, which contain an organizational unique identifier (OUI) and extension identifier (EI). There is no minimum order requirement for the devices, reducing the procurement, management, and cost overhead for small-to-medium-sized connected device deployments based on Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 802.15.4, or FireWire connectivity.

Integrated with Microchip’s SuperFlash technology, the pre-programmed SST26VF NOR Flash devices are available at densities of 16, 32, or 64 Mb. They feature a six-wire, four-bit I/O interface, SQI flash with write protections, and are available in a eight-pin SOIC or eight-contact WSON packages

SST26VF NOR Flash is available from $1.13 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
