Pixelworks Powers PureDisplay in New Nokia 8.3 5G Smartphone

Pixelworks visual processor delivers always-on HDR experience with absolute color accuracy and superior viewing clarity in any lighting environment.

Pixelworks, Inc. announced the Nokia 8.3 5G, the first 5G smartphone from HMD Global, according to the company. The 6.81” edge-to-edge screen comes with PureDisplay technology powered by the Pixelworks visual processor. 

Running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G modular platform, the Nokia 8.3 5G brings a large PureDisplay screen on the Nokia smartphone. 

The Pixelworks visual processor incorporates the following features:

  • Always-on HDR 
  • Enhanced Picture Quality
  • Auto-adaptive Display
  • Absolute Color Accuracy

The Pixelworks processor enables real-to-life color reproduction and Always-HDR quality, even when the content is only available in standard dynamic range (SDR). This is done by dynamically upscaling the color depth and detail by a factor of 64.
