Press Release

Infineon released the EiceDRIVER™ 2EDL8 gate driver IC product family, which is focused on the growth of DC-DC telecom bricks for mobile network infrastructure.

Infineon released the EiceDRIVER™ 2EDL8 gate driver IC product family, which is focused on the growth of DC-DC telecom bricks for mobile network infrastructure. The ICs, which are dual-channel, junction-isolated gate drivers, provide high power density, enhanced efficiency, and robustness in isolated DC-DC step-down converters/telecom bricks.

This enables macro base stations for 5G LTE telecom infrastructures.

The family is made up of four variants with two pull-up currents and two input configurations. According to the company, the 3 A version is ideally suited for retrofit designs, while the industry-leading 4 A version is recommended to reduce MOSFET switching losses.

Furthermore, both channels are able to operate independently. The device works well for diagonally driven full-bridges on the primary side, in addition to the synchronous rectification stage on the secondary side. This reduces losses during the freewheeling phase.

Per a company press release, it features an integrated 120 V bootstrap diode and precise channel-to-channel propagation delay matching of ± 2 ns typically.
