Putting rugged expertise to use in transportation, defense, and other verticals, PERFECTRON overviewed some of the Intel Atom- and Intel Core-based solutions they are developing for use train control environments. The company specializes in fanless solutions that operate up to 70 ºC in some cases, and is currently partnering with SADEL S.p.a. on a rugged content server for communications and surveillance applications on rolling stock.
During the briefing, a SADEL rep gave a presentation outlining his company’s use of the PERFECTRON ROC235 (the predecessor of the 236A shown below) wide-temperature, fanless system based on the Intel Ivy Bridge architecture, which the two organizations are leveraging as the basis of an EN 51055-certified onboard server for managing Big Data, service-level agreements, energy management, and more, all in real time.
