NordVPN Implements WireGuard Protocol on Linux
July 31, 2019
Press Release
NordVPN introduces the NordLynx technology built around the WireGuard protocol.
NordVPN has released the WireGuard protocol, combining WireGuard’s high-speed connection and NordVPN’s custom double Network Address Translation (NAT) system, protecting the privacy of its users.
The double NAT system is designed to provide two local network interfaces per user:
- The first interface dispenses the same local IP address to all users connected to a server.
- The second network interface with a dynamic NAT system launches; dynamic local IP addresses will continue to be assigned only during active sessions and prevents storing any identifiable data on the server.
The NordLynx technology is also obtainable for all NordVPN for Linux users. For those who do not use Linux, the VPN provider will offer tutorials on how to establish the protocol on any third-party VPN client.
“In fall 2018, we invited a small group of our users to take our WireGuard implementation for a test drive. Today, after months of further development and testing, we’re ready to present NordLynx – our solution for a fast, private, and secure VPN connection,” said NordVPN’s Head of Communication, Ruby Gonzalez.
