Silicon Labs released the EFP01 PMIC family, a new line of power management ICs (PMICs) which will serve as companion chips for EFR32 wireless devices and EFM32 microcontrollers (MCUs).
The family’s focus is to energy efficiency in battery-powered applications, such as IoT sensors, by providing system-level power management. The solution allows developers to choose optimal battery type and chemistries for the applications.
“The EFP01 family provides a turnkey power management companion solution for our wireless SoC and MCU families, combined with Simplicity Studio tools, reference designs, sample applications and ‘PMIC-aware’ wireless stacks for easy development,” said Silicon Lab’s vice president of IoT marketing and applications Matt Saunders, in a press release. “The EFP01 is optimized for our IoT connectivity platforms, eliminating the need to incorporate multiple vendor reference designs into a schematic or layout.”
EFP01 PMIC family features, per the release:
· Input voltage range of 0.8 V to 5.5 V
· Buck and boost voltage conversion as well as combined boost and buck
· Multiple output power rails
· Quiescent current as low as 150 nA
· Coulomb counting
