Data protection and encryption is a basic data storage requirement on-board nearly all military vehicles because they are routinely deployed into contested areas. Though encryption methods and algorithms are well understood, currently the guidance and understanding of where the encryption should be located in deployed storage systems, is unclear. This paper discusses the different places the encryption technology can be located on a data storage solution and aims to help you chose a solution that is best for your application.
