u-blox announced the release of the NORA-B1 Bluetooth module, the company’s newest edition to its short-range radio portfolio. The module, which is based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF5340 Bluetooth low energy chipset, is reportedly the first to host the NORA-B1, an Arm Cortex M33 dual core MCU.
The NORA-B1 assists with maximizing value out of a single component. Because it takes advantage of the dual core MCU, it can handle performance-oriented applications and drive displays without the assistance of the external host processor.
While supporting Bluetooth 5.2, the NORA-B1 also supports ZigBee and Thread. Further, the LE audio, which is able to stream multiple channels with low power consumption, marks an upgrade to audio data transmition.
The footprint, measuring at 10.4mm x 14.3mm x 1.8mm, allows for ease of routing with reduced complexity of the host board. Per the company, it will be available in multiple antenna variants, including a compact PCB antenna. Additionally, it has an extended temperature range u to 105 °C.
