Toyota Alphard/Vellfire with Toshiba's advanced image recognition processor wins Japan's highest award for preventive safety performance.
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation’s Visconti™ 4 image recognition processor was essential in Toyota Motor Corporation vehicles achieving top scores in the 2018 Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP). The Toyota Alphard/Vellfire became the winner of the Grand Prix Award with a score of 126 points for preventive safety performance, and the Toyota Crown and Corolla Sport were both assessed as ASV[1]+++.
Toyota vehicles are supplied with ViscontiTM4 by Toshiba as a vital element of DENSO Corporation’s Front-Camera-Based Active Safety System. This helped the Toyota vehicles achieve high scores in the collision avoidance braking for pedestrians assessment.
