MediaTek’s Kompanio 1300T SoC Platform Ups the Tablet Performance Experience

Demands on personal computing devices continue to grow, especially with far more higher density content and need to be able to “compute anywhere.”

To propagate that vision, MediaTek has developed the Kompanio 1300T, a SoC that has the ability to power HD experiences across said computing devices, including tablets with advanced 5G, multimedia, AI, and gaming technologies. Applications that can really benefit from this technology include online education, business, streaming services, gaming, and AI applications.

Built on TSMC's 6-nm process technology, the chip pushes the envelope in terms of power and performance as it integrates an octa-core CPU with high performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores and power-efficient Arm Cortex-A55 cores. In addition, its high performance nine-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU provides premium computing performance and supports high frame rates for longer, smoother gaming. The Kompanio 1300T incorporates MediaTek's APU (AI processing unit) to provide powerful, energy-efficient AI computing power for the latest voice and visual applications.

The Kompanio 1300T integrates MediaTek’s 5G technologies, with support for a complete set of 5G sub-6GHz bands, 5G-2CA as well as Dual 5G SIM, in addition to supporting 5G Elevator Mode & 5G HSR Mode enhancements. By integrating a series of power-saving enhancements, the SoC can automatically adjust power consumption and other configurations based on a device’s network and data transmission quality to extend battery life.

As for multimedia, the Kompanio 1300T supports multiple-scene HDR10+, AI-PQ (picture quality) technologies, and the company's chip-level eye protection engine to filter blue light, in addition to support for dual-monitors with two full HD displays. The chip also supports staggered 4K HDR video recording technology and integrates the latest imaging, encoding, decoding, and playback features for unrivaled 4K video capabilities.

Additional features of the Kompanio 1300T platform include enhanced color display, high-end imaging, intelligent voice recognition, a boosted gaming experience, and high-speed connections over most popular media.
