ECD has partnered with our ally, Military Embedded Systems, to retrieve some drones for our expansion of the Road to embedded world ’23. So many invitations to stop, and so little time, we decided to add drone fly-bys to embedded world ’23. Our first fly over is the embedded vision specialists, Gidel, in Santa Clara, California.

Geneva. STMicroelectronics announced the extension of its integrated and power-saving ST-ONE family of USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) digital controllers. STMicroelectronics is revealing the ST-ONEMP including support for two power outputs and building on the ST-ONE architecture. The digital controller has an integrated Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller built on the secondary side with support for efficient non-complementary active clamp flyback controller, and 64KB Flash for modifying USB-PD 3.1 PPS (USB-PD protocol and power conversion firmware) interface.

Fremont, California. Actelis Networks was chosen by Northern Ireland Railways (NI Railways) for its solutions utilizing high speed, media flexibility, and reliability in enabling high-speed connectivity within large-scale safety critical environments.

Writing my Exploited articles and traveling to our next stop, my head was brought to Sun Tzu, and his quote from The Art of War, “The art of war is of vital importance to the State. MASTECS will deploy its Vehicle Domain Control Module (VDCM) leveraging Infineon’s 32-bit TriCore AURIX– TC397 Microcontroller. It operates at 300 MHz including 4 additional checker cores delivering 4000 DMIPS, and supports floating point/fix point with all cores, 16 MB flash (ECC protection), and up to 6.9 MB SRAM (ECC protection). For critical systems, the VDCM environment meets the ISO26262 standard for Road Vehicle Functional Safety requirements and ASIL D.

Klein-Winternheim, Germany. Thales Alenia Space will be integrating PikeOS (RTOS) for MPU into a telecom family branded SPACE INSPIRE (software defined telecommunication satellite). The decision was made based on the performance of PikeOS including various individual levels of security (MILS) and ECSS level B qualified base for critical systems. 

Kirkland, Wash. Alliance Memory shared that it has extended its portfolio of low power asynchronous SRAM (LPSRAM) devices. The AS6CE1016A (1Mb) and AS6CE4016B (4Mb) integrate an error-correction code (ECC) for a more reliable LPSRAM When juxtaposed to previous-generation technology, the LPSRAM’s deliver upgraded failure in time (FIT), mean time to failure (MTTF), and characteristics with reduced soft error rates (SER).

I remember being in kindergarten and watching the Challenger rip apart 73 seconds after launch. Uppsala, Sweden. IAR Systems has announced that it will be leveraging the PX5 RTOS for its IAR Embedded Workbench, a full design toolchain including a IAR C/C++ Compiler and next generation debugging protocols.

AAEON has released the BOXER-8641AI driven by a 12-core ARM Cortex-A78AE v8.2 64-bit CPU including NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture supporting the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 64GB module. NVIDIA technology ups the performance to 275 TOPS making it eight-times faster than current generation AI performance capabilities.

Västerås, Sweden, Percepio AB is supporting the release of the fifth-generation RTOS, the PX5. The PX5 RTOS operated on a native implementation of the standard POSIX pThreads API. It will embed the Percepio Tracealyzer 4.6 trace recorder with Percepio supporting the PX5 RTOS with a commercially accessible solution.

Deloitte and other partners will deliver a completely functional smart production line with exploratory labs for engineers to hone their skills. Deloitte combines an environment with industry leaders teaching innovative technologies and strategies needed for today's and tomorrow's Industry 4.0.

Tessenderlo, Belgium. Melexis announced the MLX91230 and the MLX91231 optimizing shunt or Hall type sensor technology. Both are ASIL compliant (ISO 26262 functional safety standard) and measure current, temperature, and voltage. The devices are flexible for reusability in EV power environments.

Santa, Clara, Calif. OMNIVISION, released its new automotive grade 1.3-megapixel (MP) OX01E20 system-on-chip (SoC) for surround view systems (SVS) and rear-view cameras (RVC). Also included is LED flicker mitigation (LFM) and 140db high dynamic range (HDR) capabilities.

Tokyo, Japan. Renesas Electronics Corporation released information on its RAJ2930004AGM, a gate driver IC developed to operate high-voltage power devices such as IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) and SiC (Silicon Carbide) MOSFETs for electric vehicle (EV) inverters.

Melborne, Australia. Clarinox Technologies is integrating ClarinoxBlue Bluetooth and ClarinoxWiFi protocol stack software into the PX5 RTOS optimizing wireless connectivity in embedded devices. Designers can utilize the software for efficient connectivity with components, sensors, and networks.

Utilizing a constellation of satellites, Orbital Sidekick (OSK) keeps an eye on gas pipeline leaks using hyperspectral imagery employing NVIDIA edge AI technology.
