Munich, Germany. Two innovative Ferroelectric RAM (F-RAM) memory devices were added to Infineon Technologies AG’s EXCELON FRAM series. With both 1Mbit (first automotive-qualified serial FRAM) and 4Mbit densities, the devices are AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified, operating between -40°C to +125°C. The read/write capabilities climb to 50MHZ in SPI mode and in Quad SPI (QSPI) mode, 108 MHz.

A new series of Quantum Safe IP solutions has been released from Rambus that provide secured hardware and data utilizing the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommendation of quantum-compute resistant cryptographic algorithms. Neeraj Paliwal, general manager of Security IP at Rambus had this to offer, “This new generation of the Rambus Root of Trust (RoT) is a flagship product in our Quantum Safe IP portfolio that offers customers complete security solutions for the data center and advanced workloads like generative AI.”

Westborough, Massachusetts. KPM Analytics released a cloud-based software to remotely operate its SpectraStar XT series Near-Infrared (NIR) analyzers. KPMLink offers a complete impression of all SpectraStar XT analyzers connected on the network providing real-time device health for efficient control.

Chandler, Arizona. Microchip Technology released the compact 5071B cesium atomic clock delivering autonomous time keeping of 100 ns holdover for months in case of GNSS rejections.  The solution is delivered in a three-unit height (3U) 19-inch rackmount enclosure for easy mobility.

Kirkland, Washington. Alliance Memory is now delivering its industrial -grade embedded multi-media card (eMMC), the ASFC16G31M-51BIN. The card incorporates NAND flash memory with an eMMC controller and flash transition layer (FTL) management software for efficient performance with wear leveling and bad block management. The eMMC arrives compliant with the JEDEC eMMC v5.1 industry standard. Ideal applications include smart watches, digital TVs, VR and AR headsets, digital cameras, CCTV, automation, point-of-sale systems, and more.

Manchester, Massachusetts. Blues and 1NCE have partnered to increase the global coverage of its solutions using the IoT connectivity 1NCE delivers. The collaboration supports IoT device maturity coverage and further expands on cellular connectivity of Blues’ Notecard, a wireless IoT module that is simple to integrate.

Uppsala, Sweden. IAR will fully support the latest CYT6BJ series from Infineon’s 32-bit TRAVEO T2G Body MCU family. The IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm delivers code analysis tools C-STAT and C-RUN aiding designers utilizing TRAVEO T2G MCUs.  

BeagleBoard.org is now delivery its BeagleV-Ahead single board computer (SBC) based on the TH1520, a quad core 64-bit RISC-V SoC from T-Head. The SBC utilizes the open-source RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA).

Boston, Massachusetts. The Platform Stack Architectural Framework: An Introductory Guide  was released by Digital Twin Consortium (DTC) to aid in designing a fundamental foundation forming the building blocks and central models of a digital twin environment.  “Digital twins and enabling technologies are revolutionizing how we approach even the simplest of tasks, from managing the flow of stock in a warehouse to designing, deploying and maintaining a fleet of aircraft,” said Dan Isaacs, GM & CTO, DTC.

Hsinchu, Taiwan. Nuvoton Technology released its MUG51, an 8-bit low power microcontroller including integrated 1T 8051 core functioning at 7.37 MHz, 16 KB Flash APROM, and 1 KB SRAM. The MCUs deliver 12-bit ADC, 16-bit PWM, 16-bit timers, UART, I2C, SPI, two rail-to-rail comparators (ACMP), and an ISO 7816-3 Smart Card interface for UART transmission.

SYSGO released version 1.1 of its real-time operating system, PikeOS for MPU. It will now support the Dahlia NG-Ultra system-on-a-chip (SoC) that leverages ARM-R52 cores and version 11.3 of the Gnu Compiler Collection. An added benefit is the ability to change the DDR memory without the need for adjustments with the Board Support Package (BSP). Another key highlight is an enhanced debug information view.

Hod Hasharon, Israel and Bloomington, Minnesota. Weebit Nano Limited and SkyWater Technology announced Weebit Nano's Resistive Random-Access Memory (ReRAM) IP is fully qualified for industrial temperatures utilizing SkyWater's 130nm CMOS (S130) process, plus third-party processing.

In 2022, the US and EU passed upcoming cybersecurity acts with the hope of implementing and enforcing the new laws in 2024.  IoT device makers will need to shift their concerns from “time to market” to “ensuring security.” One option to create a suitably secured device within a critical system is to use digital fingerprints for ICs, using physically unclonable functions (PUF). Utilizing PUF technology, designers can implement unique identifications for every chip produced. Intrinsic-ID is one of the pioneers of PUF technology and leverages SRAM PUF that syncs with startup protocols of SRAM memory.

After the pandemic, an employee shortage was disabling Amsterdam Schiphol Airport’s process of quickly moving passengers through security lines. To rectify the situation, the airport installed R&S QPS201 security scanners to keep up with its post-COVID traveler inundation. The R&S QPS201 delivers speedier and more comfortable individual screening, lowering the need for invasive pat-downs.

Munich, Germany and Linz, Austria. Infineon Technologies AG and the Austrian product compliance company Kontrol are collaborating on the future of legally compliant and safe mobility applications. Kontrol will deliver translation and digitalization of legal regulations and on-road standards into machine-readable language.

Atmosic Technologies and Mouser Electronics, Inc. heralded a distribution partnership signifying Mouser’s delivery of Atmosic's portfolio of low-power energy-harvesting wireless Bluetooth system-on-chips (SoCs) and evaluation kits. Atmosic's portfolio was developed based on sustainability so engineers can create devices that can utilize one battery for the device’s maturity, while some devices operate without any batteries, due to the Atmosic's SoC’s low power consumption.

Malvern, Pennsylvania. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. released two new fixed-gain infrared (IR) sensor modules developed for lower costs and improved stability for sensor applications in outdoor environments. The surface-mount TSSP93038DF1PZA and leaded TSSP93038SS1ZA offer typical irradiance of 1.3 mW/m² in compact Minimold packages. The modules assist with operating in direct sunlight while able to provide sensitivity for light barrier situations without unwanted pulses.

Thorigné-Fouillard, France and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Kerlink and The Things Industries are combining their carrier-grade hardware and software enabling zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) for IoT networks. The collaboration features Kerlink’s Wirnet i-Series LoRaWAN gateways and The Things Industries’ LoRaWAN Network Server, The Things Stack, into a plug-and-play package.
